Great Lakes Mechanical provides Pre-Construction services including budgeting, scheduling, system selection support, and value engineering. Working together with owners, engineers, architects, and construction managers, we guarantee a quality and efficient mechanical system. When starting a new project, we provide our customers with highly trained project managers to ensure the finest service from start to finish. In following our strict ISO procedures, we can assure an excellent job.
For nearly 30 years, Great Lakes Mechanical has been on the technological forefront within the mechanical industry after becoming one of the first contractors to establish a CAD-based detailing department in 1993. Today, we employ 8 Mechanical Detailers with over 60 years of combined experience in Sheet Metal, Mechanical Piping, Plumbing, and Refrigeration. Their skill and experience, combined with our cutting-edge workstations and BIM software allow us to complete even the most intense project as either an integral part of the MEP coordination team, or as the lead coordinator overseeing the project as a whole. We take great care in producing fully coordinated 3D designs that meet all plan, spec, manufacturer, and code requirements before a single item is fabricated or installed.
Within the last 5 years we have taken the technological leap from merely designing in the digital world, to implementing advanced technology in the construction process. In 2016, we became one of the first mechanical contractors in the Midwest to move to the Revit platform for detailing in-house fabrication drawings. By combining this advanced software with cutting-edge hardware, like our Trimble Robotic Total Station and Vulcan Plasma Table, we are able to leverage the information contained in our three-dimensional models and automatically, accurately, and quickly fabricate and install exactly what was modeled.
With over fifty years worth of empirical data, we are able to rapidly formulate project budget, with limited mechanical information.
We provide automated scheduling and forecasting. Our CAD detailing and 3D modeling abilities help foresee potential conflicts. This allows our customers to be proactive in their resolutions.
Full 3D modeling lead to rapid constructability analysis. Both in coordination with structure, other trades, and code requirements.
TRIMBLE ROBOTIC TOTAL STATION
Robotic Total Stations have gained a strong foothold in the construction industry for a good reason. They provide an unparalleled level of accuracy in field layout at a schedule friendly pace. By utilizing their proprietary features and our unique in-house developed tools, systems, and methods we are able to provide layout solutions on a level many of our partners have never experienced.
With mechanical engineers on staff and PE's on retainer, GLM can efficiently provide full design build and/or design assist projects or systems. We utilize computerized heating and cooling software along with 8 drafting stations utilizing Revit software.
Our engineering and design/build experience allows us to quickly analyze designed systems for most cost and long term savings.
Autodesk Revit is a true 4D BIM platform built from the ground up for modern building design. Every object you see on one of our Revit based mechanical models has an intensive, customizable database attached to it full of valuable information that can be leveraged in every phase of the buildings life.
On a project with very little historical data, we have the capability to capture a scalable 3D model. This capture then transfers into a 4D Revit model, providing extreme detail allowing us to identify obstructions and building conditions, creating a clean drawing for new equipment and material installation.
